Email Marketing can add 10%-20% to your bottom line!
E-mail marketing involves using the power of e-mail to communicate and market products or services online. As e-mail is a free alternative to direct mail, it can be extremely profitable and a surefire way of reaching a large amount of people in a short period of time. The basic concept involves, collecting e-mail addresses, and then marketing products or services to them, which relate to your business model.
There are several ways to go about e-mail marketing. Although sending an e-mail is free, there are services which will do e-mail marketing for you. You can also buy or rent lists of e-mail addresses relevant to your category of business to market to. These lists are made up of e-mail addresses of people who "opted in" to another e-mail list related to your category. Because of this, they may be more targeted than if you were to send random e-mails out to random e-mail addresses.
While paid services can be effective, another way of collecting e-mail addresses, which can be more targeted, is by building a website yourself and collecting the leads from there. You would generally sign up with an auto responder e-mail account, have an opt in form for your list, and begin your marketing from there. One way to get people to opt in to your e-mail list is to offer something of value in return for their e-mail address. For example, your particular website is centered on how to lose weight. You then create a free report called "The 99 Biggest Mistakes That People Make When Losing Weight." The report may be free; however, in order to receive it, the person must enter their name and e-mail address in order to get it. From that point, you can then market weight loss products, diet pills and supplements, etc. Using this method can be more targeted, as you are getting e-mail addresses immediately, which means that they are looking for an immediate solution to their problem. Fresh e-mail leads are always better than leads that have been on a list for some time.
It is important to be careful not to "spam" the inboxes of other users. Sending excessive sales pitches or promotional e-mails will undoubtedly be considered spam, be deleted, or even worse, reported. If you're reported too many times, your ISP or your auto responder account can be suspended -- possibly both. As there some people that consider every e-mail they get from someone they don't know as spam -- even if they opted into the list -- it is important that you take every step you can to promote what you're selling, while at the same time doing it ever so subtly. One way to do this, is to create an e-mail course, center around your focus product, and after each lesson mention or promote it briefly. But, always emphasize the content of the course over the promotional link to what you want to sell.
With e-mail marketing, you should be careful to always write what is appealing, or it will cause people to unsubscribe from the list. If you need to, research what people are looking for so you can maximize profits.
Most importantly with e-mail marketing, or any other type list, there is a saying that says "the money is in the list." This is very true, as an effective e-mail marketing campaign can prove to be very profitable. However, if it is entered into aggressively, and is seen as spam by too many users, it could prove to be bad for your reputation, and your internet marketing career will come to a quick halt. By paying attention to the details described above, the effectiveness of your e-mail campaigns will increase significantly.
